Material properties of solid HVDC insulation systems
This TB presents an overview of the key material properties that determine the behavior of solid DC insulation constructions. These properties are of significance not only for the design process but also for testing. Properties are identified that play a minor role in AC insulation but a major role in DC insulation. A distinction is made between bulk properties and interface/surface properties to highlight the specific problems related to, and the practical importance of, interfaces in HVDC insulating systems.
