Criteria and countermeasures for voltage collapse

Based on many incidents that have been experienced, the electric power industry is increasingly concerned with bulk power system voltage instability and collapse. There is now a large literature on voltage stability analysis methods. Production grade simulation software is also now available. There is relatively little information available however on reliability criteria and effective voltage collapse countermeasures.
