Recommendations for testing of long AC submarine cables with extruded insulation for system voltage above 30 (36) to 500 (550) kV (This TB replaces electra article ELT_189_1)

The trend for higher powers in submarine cables resulted in a need regarding new test recommendations for extruded AC submarine cables up to the highest voltages. The TB covers an introduction of EHV and HV AC submarine cable designs followed by sections for routine test, sample test, type test and prequalification (long term) tests. The new editions of the relevant IEC standards are taken into account as well as additions and clarifications for testing of joints and water tightness.
