Communication solutions for information exchange in the smart delivery of electrical energy

This work confirms that available telecommunications technologies are able to support the Smart Meter functionality imposed by regulators and required by utilities. It presents up to date case studies illustrating the performance achieved and the varied actions that might be needed to optimize performance. A proposal is made identifying the required performance requirements and service level agreements.
