Partial discharge (PD) measurement is a widely adopted technique for assessing the insulation condition of rotating machines, enabling early detection of defects and preventing unexpected failures that could lead to unplanned outages. Specialized maintenance experts analyse PD pulses characteristics and interpret PD patterns to identify different PD sources in stator winding along their criticality, allowing one to schedule maintenance actions in a timely manner.
