Development Experience of C4F7N-based 420 kV HVCB, double chamber and single chamber Prospects
The replacement of SF₆ in high-voltage circuit breakers remains one of the most challenging transitions in power transmission technology. While multiple alternative insulation and interruption concepts have been introduced over the past decade, none provides a universal oneto-one replacement across all voltage levels, operating conditions, and applications. Each alternative presents trade-offs related to size, operating pressure, low-temperature performance, mechanical complexity, and environmental footprint.
