220 kV Transition Joint for Connecting High-Pressure Fluid-Filled (HPFF) Cable and Cross-Linked Polyethylene (XLPE) Insulated Cable
This article provides an overview of technical solutions, as well as the manufacturing and testing stages of a high-voltage cable transition joint for connecting cables with different insulation types: cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) and oil-impregnated paper. Technical requirements are presented, based on the design and operating parameters of high-pressure fluid-filled (HPFF) cables. Testing requirements for the design were developed on this same basis, as well as on CIGRE recommendations. Design variants of the transition joint are presented, along with extensive illustrations of the joint's materials and components.
