The Investigation and Modelling of Vertically Installed Inter-Phase Spacers for the Enhancement of Clearance in Overhead Transmission Lines
Safety clearance is one of the vital considerations in designing and commissioning overhead transmission lines (OHTLs). The clearance of live parts to the structure, people, animals, obstacles, etc. shall be maintained in a standard range to protect both the line and living creatures, and on the other hand, to keep the total cost of the line effective. The length of an OHTL varies up to hundreds of kilometers, which makes it cross through several regions and various zones. Correspondingly, confronting assorted factors with an adverse impact on the required clearance in transmission towers such as double-circuit vertical-configuration towers is inevitable. Hence, the vertical clearance of lower-phase conductors must be maintained in a safe range through the entire route of the OHTL.
