Towards Resilient HVDC Networks: DC Switching Stations and Multi-Vendor Interoperability

The objective of this paper is, to provide a function-oriented specification framework for DC switching stations, with sufficient flexibility for integrating diverse solutions while ensuring robust and scalable HVDC network development. To put requirements into perspective, the underlying concepts of unit states and grid zoning are briefly described. Subsequent, the structure of a switching station and its subsystems is introduced. Switching units (SUs) as a key component of a switching station are explained. Main switching sequences along with their constraints are elaborated as part of a structured overview of requirements that need to be specified to enquire switching station subsystems.
