Efficient Transformation: Innovative Strategy for the Modernization of Busbar differential Protections in Critical Substations

The 500 kV Primavera substation, a critical node for energy transmission in Colombia, faced the challenge of replacing its busbar differential protection due to the high risk of failure of the existing equipment. Beyond the innovative technical solution—which enabled a sequential replacement while keeping critical functions 87B and 50BF operational and minimizing downtime-this project became a benchmark for knowledge management in protection and automation.
