The certification of line protection relays is a critical process that has traditionally depended on years of operational experience; however, rapid technological evolution and frequent firmware updates have made maintaining up-to-date homologation criteria increasingly challenging, leading to difficulties in knowledge preservation and standardization. Manual testing under simulated or real fault conditions requires significant time and specialized resources and relies heavily on individual expertise, which complicates consistent evaluation and introduces risks when knowledge is not properly documented or transferred.
