Methods and Techniques for Ensuring the Oscillatory Stability of the Russian Power System

A distinctive feature of the Russian Unified Power System, which is a combination of geographically distributed power facilities linked by a single process of electricity generation and transmission, is the presence of extensive intersystem ties between the main generating capacities and power consumers. Intersystem and sometimes bulk electrical power networks in the power system with insufficient throughput capacity can lead to the emergence of systemic low-frequency (with frequencies from 0.05 to 5 Hz) undamped or weakly damped oscillations of the parameters of the electrical regime.
