Fault-Ride-Through Performance of Grid-forming Battery Energy Storage Systems: Observations and Analysis of Synchronisation
This study examines the synchronisation performance of grid-forming battery energy storage systems (GFM-BESSs) during faults with two main contributions: (i) analysis of loss-ofsynchronism (LoS) in GFM-BESS, and (ii) a summary of fault scenarios where GFM-BESS is vulnerable to LoS. These aspects are investigated using Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) simulations with vendor-specific GFM-BESS models.
