Power Quality Issues Associated with Inverter Duty Transformer

India has set an ambitious target to develop 450 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030 to combat climate change by reducing CO₂ emissions. While renewable energy offers sustainability and energy security, it also presents technical challenges related to power quality and grid reliability. Addressing these challenges requires innovative solutions that leveraging advanced power electronics and signal processing techniques such as timefrequency analysis. A key area of concern is the performance of grid-connected solar photovoltaic (SPV) plants, particularly in maintaining the power quality and operational reliability. As of November 2025, India had installed 133 GW of solar PV capacity, much of it through grid-connected plants incorporating thousands of inverter duty transformers (IDTs).
