Impact of BESS-based Power Oscillation Damper (POD) on Inter-area Oscillation Damping in the Argentine Power System
In Argentina, the growing deployment of inverter-based renewable generation is progressively displacing conventional synchronous generation, which introduces significant challenges to the stability and reliability of the electrical system. One effect is the reduction of system damping due to the lower number of synchronous generators in service, since these provide intrinsic inertia and allow the use of Power System Stabilizers (PSS), contributing to the damping of low-frequency electromechanical oscillations, known as inter-area oscillations.
