Fault ride through issues and evaluation of mitigation techniques in a converter-dominated power system
This paper investigates PLL loss of synchronism in wind power plants within an area with high penetration of converter-connected generation. Typically, fault ride through performance has been analysed for close-in faults, with focus on individual power plants. However, loss of synchronism can occur because of remote faults, when multiple power plants enter FRT-mode simultaneously and the grid is sufficiently weak.
