Belgian philosophy and experience with temperature monitoring of cable systems by means of distributed temperature sensing techniques and future PD monitoring techniques

The real time behaviour of cable systems becomes more important. DSO's and TSO's want to know the condition and estimated end of life of their cables and their cable accessories. During the life time of installed cable systems PD monitoring and temperature monitoring techniques can provide useful information. The paper describes the tests and results gained so far with those techniques by Elia and Eandis.
