Long-term Behavior of Stationary Electrical Connections in Areas with Harsh Natural Environmental Conditions

Abstract: The expansion of power systems in areas with harsh natural environmental conditions increases the operation of stationary electrical connections in such areas. Electrical connections can be evaluated by determining the connection resistance. Considering the environmental impact, the aging of electrical connections can be accelerated. This could possibly result in a reduced life time of the electrical connections. In this research study, busbar joints made of copper, aluminum or aluminum alloy with and without coating (silver, tin or nickel) were considered.
