Space charge measurement for full-scale HVDC cables Using pulsed-electroacoustic method

DC power cable is often employed for submarine transmission. Its insulation may produce internal space charges under high DC stress, which make a distortion of electrical field. It may lead to reduction in insulation performances. Such a space charge formation is considered to be significant in polymer insulated HVDC cables. In the development process of HVDC polymer insulated cables, it is very essential to prove that no significant space charge is formed, as well as to reduce the space charge itself. It is believed that space charge measurement for full-scale cable is preferable at the final stage of the development.
