Ageing kinetics of insulating paper immersed in a near carbon neutral re-refined oil
Given the early stages of maturity of these re-refined oils, there is a need to generate knowledge and evidence about how the typical cellulose-based materials used in transformers age while immersed in such liquids. That’s why this work focuses on assessing the ageing performance of Kraft and TUK papers in accelerated lab-ageing tests at 105ºC, 120ºC and 140ºC immersed in a 100% re-refined oil. Current results are compared to previously reported data obtained by this same research group from paper samples immersed in conventional uninhibited mineral oil and in a bio-based hydrocarbon oil.
