Modelling of Respect Width for magnetic field for Electrical Substations of Terna
In order to gradually minimize prolonged exposure to magnetic field generated by power-lines and related infrastructures, in 2003 Italian Government introduced for new exposures the quality target of 3 T (L. 36/2001 [2] and D.P.C.M. 08/07/2003 [3]) and defined respect width as the space where magnetic field value generated by electric infrastructures is equal or greater than the quality target and where the presence of any location where people are supposed to stay for 4 hours or more per day is forbidden. Subsequently, in 2008 a methodology to calculate respect width was defined, introducing a simplified representation of it, called DPA, useful, as well, as criteria for territory planning [5] [24].
