Roadmap of the first phase of the European Supergrid

The European Supergrid is the vision of Friends of the Supergrid (FOSG); a pan-European transmission network facilitating the integration of large-scale renewable energy and the balancing and transportation of electricity, with the aim of improving the European market. This paper summarises the FOSG roadmap of the Supergrid technologies covering aspects such as HVDC converters and systems, high voltage cables, control and communication systems as well as the drivers, applications, and relevant ongoing activities in international working groups.
