Statistics of AC underground cables in power networks

Statistics for currently installed lengths of underground and overhead circuits are presented. The main technical factors influencing the cost and complexity of undergrounding are examined, as are the factors to be considered in evaluating the cost of overhead or underground connections. Significant cable projects of the last decade are described. Details of cable type, installation methods and reasons for their choice are given.
