Protocol for Reporting the Operational Performance of HVDC Systems

Recognizing the potential value of the experience gained from HVDC transmission systems across the industry, CIGRE Study Committee 14 established Working Group 04, which was later renamed as Advisory Group 04 (AG B4.04 - HVDC and FACTS Performance), with terms of reference that included the responsibility of collecting data on HVDC systems in commercial service. It was considered that such information could be useful in the planning, design, construction and operation of new projects. Additionally, it was envisioned that sharing operational performance data would benefit those managing existing HVDC links and those planning new ones.
