Finite Element Analysis for Cable Rating Calculations

This Technical Brochure provides guidance for computing cable current ratings using the Finite Element Method (FEM).  Although standards-based analytical calculations remain an essential tool for cable system design, the use of FEM to enable in-depth assessment of potential thermal bottlenecks is prevalent.  Comprehensive guidance and verification approaches are provided for cable system designers. The TB also provides guidance to clients requesting FEM studies.
