Underexcited saturation state in cylindrical rotor synchronous machines

Evaluation of operation data clearly shows increased generator and synchronous compensator operation providing inductive reactive power, also called underexcited operation. With this operational mode being less expected in the past, simplifying conservative assumptions were acceptable. One of them being the assumption of an unsaturated machine at the underexcitation limit.
