Dielectric Withstand Evaluation for Shunt Reactors due to Disconnect Switching Transients
The rapid growth of transmission networks since the 1970s, especially in the 1980s, necessitated voltage control resources due to high reactive power injections from increasingly long transmission lines. In addition, particularly in countries like Brazil, the increasing integration of renewable energy sources and distributed generation into distribution networks has also led to a greater need for flexibility in the use of reactive power resources in the transmission system to maintain network voltages within the normal operating range.
