Grid Load Optimization with Transformer Thermal Digital Twin
Digital Twins are on everyone’s lips but their possibilities supporting the grid usage are still limited. A typical application is the evaluation of transformer loading capabilities during their operation consideration of loss of life. This issue is not new, as design-specific loading capacity tables for transformers have been available in digital and printed form for decades. The question is to what extent digitalization can improve and optimize the use of this data, considering other limiting factors in the entire system, such as grid components like overhead lines, as well as its practical application in daily grid operations.
