Advanced optimisation Techniques for eco-efficient Circuit Breaker Design - Applications to a newly developed 245 / 300 kV SF6-free High Voltage Circuit Breaker
This paper presents an in-depth study of the application of optimization techniques to the design of SF6-free gas-insulated circuit breakers, taking case studies from the recently developed 245/300 kV Dead Tank Breaker (DTB) and Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) circuit breaker, based on C4-FN mixtures. The motivation for this research stems from the urgent need to develop switchgear based on the off-the-shelf eco-efficient alternatives to SF6, a potent greenhouse gas traditionally used in high-voltage circuit breakers.
