Monitoring of overhead lines using the optical fiber in OPGW
This paper presents initial results from the deployment of a Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) system using Optical Ground Wires (OPGW) to support Dynamic Line Rating (DLR) applications. Mechanically induced strain measured by DAS is used to extract the perpendicular wind‑speed component, which is subsequently extrapolated from OPGW height to phase‑conductor height.
