Challenges in Asset Management: Data, Decisions and Uncertainty
This paper gives examples of challenging technical decisions being made within an asset management context; good decision making relies on and requires good communication between technical staff and asset management, particularly when the issue being addressed is unexpected. An analysis of circuit breaker spares required for maintenance of system availability has to be considered with relation to long lead times and subsequent management of the spares. Bushing issues found during inspection lead to intensive offline test and assessment, requiring subsequent urgent replacement of all such bushings in service.
