The Results of the Study on Relay Protection of Power Transmission Lines from Wind and Solar Power Plants

This paper present a study of the behaviour of the main and backup functions of relay protection for 110–220 kV transmission lines outgoing from wind and solar power plants. The main factors affecting the correct operation of relay protection functions, as well as the measuring devices of relay protection functions most susceptible to the influence of inverter based resource, are identified. Type 3 and type 4 wind power plants for wind power plants and photovoltaic plants for solar power plants were modelled.
