Offshore Transmission Planning – JWG C1

Joint Working Group (“JWG”) C1/B4.49 was formed in August 2023 with the aim to build on the findings of previous and ongoing working groups and projects, drawing together key issues and international experience, to provide insight into and guidelines for how offshore transmission grids can be planned, developed, deployed and operated, taking into account the purpose to be fulfilled, the constraints of onshore AC grids, limited planning horizons, and technology characteristics. The JWG is comprised of 47 members from 16 countries in 4 different continents. The JWG has a variety of expertise, with representatives from manufacturers, utilities, system operators, developers, universities and government institutions, offering a diverse perspective.
