Enhancing Resource Adequacy Monitoring in the Indian Power Sector through Real-Time Day-Ahead and Intra-Day Decision Support Tools
Resource adequacy (RA), the ability of a power system to reliably meet demand under all operating conditions, has become a critical concern in India’s rapidly transforming power sector. Rising peak demand, increasing penetration of variable renewable energy, and the transition toward market-based dispatch have exposed the limitations of traditional, deterministic adequacy assessments that are largely long-term and static. These approaches offer limited operational value to real-time system operators who must manage uncertainty, variability, and contingencies on sub-daily horizons.
