Why bonding leads are usually within 10m?
The Danish DSO Nexel is interested in developing their underground cable installations to increase bonding lead lengths that exceed the 10m industry standards to provide more flexibility in link box placement. This paper challenges the existing guidelines through advanced simulation of transient scenarios, including fault and lightning events and provides views and suggestions for future analysis. Trefoil and flat configurations with bonding leads of 10m, 20m, and 50m are studied under several lightning strike amplitudes reflecting general statistics.
