Incorporating a Market-based Rate of Change of Frequency Control Ancillary Service in Nodal Electricity Markets
This paper explores the evolution of a standard nodal electricity market design to include a market-based RoCoF Control Service (RCS) ancillary service. The new RCS is co-optimised with energy and other ancillary services. The RCS have a corresponding marginal price. The interplay between Contingency Raise and RCS requirements is modelled. For example, if there are more than enough facilities scheduled to provide RCS, the amount of Contingency Raise required is reduced.
