Operational Experience of Madeira River Project in the Brazilian Interconnected Power System under Initial Configuration
This paper discusses the Madeira River Transmission Project from the first generators operation of Santo Antonio power plant and one Back-to-Back block up to the stage where Bipole #1 is operating in monopolar mode with metallic return transmitting up to 700 MW. This project has been forced to operate in conditions which have not been foreseen previously due to delays in generator schedule and Bipole #1 as well as line and converter stations. These unplanned conditions have been investigated and described in this work taking into account the equipment rating and performance point of view. The adopted solutions have always been on the safest side of system operation.
