Lightning Protection of Low-Voltage Networks Procedures
This TB presents the main mechanisms which can give rise to lightning transients on LV systems and discusses the surge characteristics and their dependence on the network configuration and stroke and earth parameters. High frequency models of transformers and consumers' installations are presented. The impact of the application of surge protective devices is assessed and guidance is provided on the protection of LV networks and relevant equipment, including specific applications such as wind turbines, photovoltaic, and dc traction systems.
