Case study: Stock-up strategy for equipment with High-Lead-Time spares in offshore substations
The current paper proposes a spare parts strategy, formulated and evaluated through reactive and proactive methods, for high voltage gas insulated switchgear with a low-redundancy design as found in offshore substations due to space and weight constraints. Certain existing literature suggests that proactive spare parts methods do not significantly improve transmission assets performance, whilst other studies indicate that stockouts increase unplanned outage hours.
